NPR | National Guard Members Struggle To Keep Civilian Careers

The National Guard is a reserve force that can be mobilized in a crisis, but soldiers in the Guard have to support themselves with a civilian job. Many veterans find it challenging to transition from military to civilian life, but those in the National Guard have to balance the two worlds simultaneously. North County Bureau Editor Alison St John tells us how that’s playing out for two National Guardsmen in San Diego.
